Troubleshooting Your RFID Reader - Chainway R6 Reader

 
Summary

This article describes common problems you may encounter using Chainway R6 RFID device and helps you to resolve them.

The possible issues are:

  • Chainway R6 device is not getting ON / OFF
  • Chainway R6 device is not connected with TagMatiks AT Lite
  • Chainway R6 device is connected to another Android/iOS device
  • RFID Tags are not getting read in TagMatiks AT Lite application
A. Switching ON & OFF Chainway R6 device

I. Switching ON the Chainway R6 device

1. Press the Main Power button continuously for 3 seconds only.

2. Then its LED lights up, meaning power is on.

II. Switching OFF the Chainway R6 device

1. To switch off when the Chainway R6 reader is on, press the Main Power button continuously for 3 seconds only.

2. Then its LED light is off, meaning the Chainway R6 device is powered off.

B. Chainway R6 device is not connected with TagMatiks AT Lite

Immediately after the Chainway R6 device is powered on, the “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light will automatically start flashing Blue – this indicates that Chainway R6 device is now in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a nearby Android device.

1. Open the TagMatiks AT Lite application and login into it.

2. On the Home Page, click on the Settings Icon (at the bottom right side of screen); as shown below figure

3. To make the connection with Chainway R6 reader; press the “Manage Reader” button - on the left-hand side of the application.

NOTE: Make sure the Android device’s Bluetooth is on.

4. Then multiple reader options will come on the display.

5. Select “Chainway R6 Readers”.

6. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”

7. Bring Chainway R6 reader close to Android device.

8. The application will show the discoverable reader’s name; as shown below:

9. The reader’s name will be listed as “FDBD3D661B86”; where “XXXXX” is the last six values of the device's serial number.

10. The MAC address of the Chainway R6 device is also reflecting. Here the device’s MAC address is: FD:BD:3D:66:1B:86

NOTE:

When no Chainway R6 reader is there nearby the Android device
OR
If the Bluetooth of Chainway R6 reader is Off
OR
Chainway R6 Reader is not in pairing mode.
OR
Chainway R6 Reader is already paired with another Android/iOS device.

then TagMatiks AT Lite will show “No Available Readers.” Refer below image.

11. Now press on the available Reader name.

12. Once you press on the reader's name, then the application will start to make a connection with that Chainway R6 device.

13. On successful connection, an acknowledgment/pop window will come – stating that” FDBD3D661B86 has connected successfully”; refer below image:

14. TagMatiks AT Lite will also fetch the Serial number of the connected device and show it along with the reader’s name; as shown in above image.

NOTE: TagMatiks AT Lite directly searches and pairs with Chainway R6. There is no need to first pair with the Chainway R6 via the normal Bluetooth connection.

C.Chainway R6 Device is connected to another Android/iOS device

If the Chainway R6 device is “ON” but couldn’t connect to the Android device. Then there is a possibility that the Chainway R6 device is already paired & connected to another iOS/Android device. To check the same, please follow following steps

I. Chainway R6 device LED status check

1. Check the status of the “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light.

2. If it is solid blue; means Chainway R6 device is already in paired with another Android/iOS device; as shown in below image:

3. If “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light is flashing Blue – this shows that Chainway R6 device is now in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a nearby Android device.

II. On TagMatiks AT Lite Application: Chainway R6 Reader check:

1. Press the “Manage Reader” button - on the left-hand side of the application.

NOTE: Make sure the Android device’s Bluetooth is on.

2. Select “Chainway R6 Reader”.

3. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”

4. If no reader comes/reflects in the reader list.

5. This means:

Either no Chainway R6 RFID reader is nearby the Android device OR Chainway R6 Reader is already paired with another iOS/Android device.

then TagMatiks AT Lite will show “No Available Readers.” Refer below image.
D. RFID Tags are not getting read in TagMatiks AT Lite

In TagMatiks AT Lite, first ensure the configuration settings are in sync with the RFID tags.

1. Please click on the Settings Tab and then click on the “Configurations” under “Admin Settings”

2. Please click on “Asset Configuration”.

3. A new window will open, where you can see tabs for Tagging Options, EPC Data and Other Memory Banks. As shown below:

4. To modify the behavior of associating RFID tags to assets; please read the article named:"Configured Overview"

 

5. Once the tag format configuration is properly saved; go to the “Home” page.

6. Press the “Inventory” button - on the bottom left-hand side of the application.

7. Then a new window will open, named: “Inventory.”

8. For taking the inventory, click on a location. For example, the location is selected is “CBE1”

9. Press the trigger button on the Chainway R6 device; TagMatiks AT Lite application will start reading the RFID tags. Please refer below image:

10. Once the “Scan” button is pressed; then the “RFID” LED starts flashing.

11. This means the Chainway R6 reader is in polling state and reading the tags. Same can be seen in the application window. Refer above image.

12. Once you press the trigger button for “Stop”; Chainway R6 reader will stop reading the tags.

13. To check the scanned items, tap on the Matched Asset(s), read tags will populate on the application window, as shown in below image.
