This article describes common problems you may encounter using Zebra RFD40 RFID device and helps you to resolve them.
The possible issues are:
Switching ON the RFD40 device:
1. Press the handle trigger for two seconds to turn the reader On.
2. Then its battery LED lights up GREEN meaning power is on.
Switching OFF the RFD40 device:
If the reader is not used for a duration of thirty minutes, then the reader enters in Off mode automatically.
Immediately after the RFD40 device is powered on, the “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light will automatically start flashing Blue – this indicates that the RFD40 device is now in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a nearby Android device.
1. Open TagMatiks AT Lite and tap the “Settings' ' button on the bottom right-hand side of the application.
2. Select the “Manage Readers” option to see the list of the readers.
3. Select the “Zebra RFID Reader”.
4. Then a new window will open, named: “Readers List.”
5. Bring RFD40 reader close to Android device.
6. The application will show the discoverable reader’s name.
7. Tap on the available reader name. Once you press on the reader's name, then the application will start making a connection with the RFD40 device.
8. On successful connection, an acknowledgment/pop window will come – stating that” RFD40+22055520100870 has connected successfully”; refer below image:
9. Application will also fetch the Model & Serial number of the connected RFD40 device and show it along with the reader’s name; as shown in the above image.
10. The reader’s name will be “RFD40XXXXXXXXXXXXXX”; where “XXXXXXXXXXXXXX” is the 15-digit value of the device's serial number. E.g. In the above image, the value “220555220100870” is the 15-digit value of the device's serial number.
If the RFD40 device is “ON” but couldn’t connect to the Android device, then there is a possibility that the RFD40 device is already paired & connected to another Android/iOS device. To check the same, please follow the following steps below.
I. RFD40 device LED status check:
1. Check the status of the “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light.
2. If it is solid blue; means RFD40 device is already in paired with another Android device; as shown in below image:
3. If the “Bluetooth Pairing” LED light is flashing Blue – this shows that the RFD40 device is now in discoverable mode and ready to pair with a nearby Android device.
II. On TagMatiks AT Lite Application: RFD40 Reader check:
1. Open TagMatiks AT Lite and tap the “Settings” button on the bottom right-hand side of the application.
2. Select the “Manage Readers” option to see the list of the available readers.
3. Tap on ‘Zebra RFID Readers”.
If no reader comes/reflects in the reader list. This means:
Either no RFD40 RFID reader is there nearby the Android device
OR
RFD40 Reader is already paired with another Android device.
then TagMatiks AT Lite application will show “No Available Readers.” Refer the image below:
In the TagMatiks AT Lite Application, please first ensure the configuration settings are matched with the RFID tags.
1. Click on the Settings Tab and then click on the “Configuration” under “Admin Settings”
2. Click on “Asset Configuration”.
3. A new window will open, where you can see tabs for Tagging Options, EPC Tag Data and Memory Bank. As shown in the image below:
4. To modify the behaviour of associating RFID tags to assets; please read the article named:"Configuration Overview"
5. Once the tag format configuration is properly saved; go to the “Home” page.
6. Press the “Inventory” button - on the bottom left-hand side of the application.
7. Then a new window will open, named: “Inventory.” For taking the inventory, click on any Location; like here “Support Area” is selected.
8. Press the “Start” icon bar button on the AT Lite application, then the RFD40 reader will start reading the RFID tags. Refer to the image below:
9. Once you Press the “Stop” icon bar button on the application; then the RFD40 reader will stop reading the tags.
10. As a result, the read tag will populate on the application window, as shown in the image below.
